Top 3 potential new teams for Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott in 2025 NFL Season

QB Dak Prescott may leave the Dallas Cowboys in free agency the next offseason. Might he wind up wearing a new team's uniform? Prescott hasn't been extended by the Cowboys, so who knows if they can work out a deal in time for the next campaign? Prescott appears to have a good chance of entering the free agency market, which would spark a fierce bidding battle.

Three teams vying for a franchise quarterback would be at the front of the bidding battle. Who do they represent?

#3. Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers, who secretly have a really good team on both sides of the ball, may find themselves in the quarterback market the next offseason if second-year quarterback Bryce Young does not make a significant enough improvement. The Panthers might be able to select a top quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft if Young chooses not to take the risk.

But might they be interested in Dak Prescott somehow? Should Carolina want a quicker, win-now fix, the possible free agent might be a plug-and-play player. Though they could use another CB and pass-rusher on defense, Carolina already has a strong roster. They could still add a wide receiver and lineman to their offensive line.

The Panthers might unintentionally fall into that category since Dak Prescott would undoubtedly not sign with a team unless he believed they could win right away.

#2. New York Giants

Under Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll, the New York Giants have been a complete catastrophe as a football team. However, if they can take Dak Prescott from their division rivals, they might be able to turn things around. They can make a drastic change at the position in the upcoming summer because neither Drew Lock nor Daniel Jones will be the long-term answer in New York.

Prescott would then be able to play for Brian Daboll, a brilliant offensive mind. If the Giants were to pull off this big move, they would obviously want to go all in, so even though my opinion of Schoen as a roster-builder is low, I am confident he could find some quality free agents.

In 2025, might Dak Prescott genuinely be a member of another NFC East team?

#1. Las Vegas Raiders

Due to their mishandling of the quarterback position this offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders appear ready to start either Gardner Minshew or Aidan O'Connell in the 2024 NFL Season—neither of whom are reliable long-term options. GM Tom Telesco may be even more determined to secure the starting quarterback position in 2025 and beyond after the Raiders missed out on all six first-round quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft.

While Dak Prescott wouldn't be a ten-year solution, Telesco might be able to assemble a competitive roster around him in five years. The Raiders don't exactly have a strong roster, but most issues can be resolved if the quarterback is handled properly.
