Georgia Buldogs football: 3 recruits who will have an immediate impact in 2023

Fans of Georgia football may expect these true freshman to have a big effect this fall. Despite winning back-to-back national titles, Kirby Smart's dominant Georgia football program has begun a new offseason program.

In the final four teams in the College Football Playoff, the Dawgs stand as strong a chance as anyone to complete an unprecedented three-peat. Everyone will come after them, but it will be very difficult to stop the traditional power that Smart has transformed into a veritable behemoth. Of course, hiring is the most important factor. Georgia has the second-best class overall for the 2023 cycle.

Georgia does a wonderful job of showcasing its up-and-coming talent early, but who can have an immediate impact?

#3. Raylen Wilson, Linebacker

One of the 18 early entrants for Georgia and one of the team's five five-star recruits is linebacker Raylen Wilson. The 6-foot-2, 213-pound Tallahassee linebacker is ranked No. 3 nationally in his position group, No. 7 in Florida, and No. 27 overall in this cycle. He is the second-best prospect in Georgia. He shouldn't just enter the game right now because of his talent.

Remember that he plays in the same position group that Glenn Schumann, the co-defensive coordinator, is in charge of. Schumann is anticipated to be the next coach to emerge through Smart's coaching tree. Although it might take a while, Schumann will likely want to highlight his inside linebacker room even more now that Georgia has established itself as the team to beat.

#2. Monroe Freeling, Offensive Tackle

Sedrick Van Pran-Granger and Tate Ratledge, two crucial players in the trenches, are back, but Georgia will still need to replace Broderick Jones, Warren Ericson, and Warren McClendon up front. Offensive tackle Monroe Freeling is one guy who enrolled early when five-star recruits were graduating. He is ranked No. 1 in South Carolina, No. 5 among prospects for tackles, and No. 32 overall in his class.

You won't see offensive line coach Stacy Searels allow that massive physique to post up on the bench for the entirety of his true freshman season at 6-foot-6 and 294 pounds. Georgia has a talent for rotating their young freshmen along the offensive line. Freeling won't start right away, but he may fill in for someone by the conclusion of fall camp or the 2023 campaign.

Freeling is likely to fight for the position of swing tackle up front on the Georgia offensive line.

#1. Damon Wilson, Edge

It's easier said than done to find weaknesses in Georgia's defense. Although some could contend that the back end is a vulnerability, we are aware that Smart and Will Muschamp, the co-defensive coordinator, are experts in the secondary. The Georgia defense won't be able to be stopped, though, if they can develop a more reliable pass-rush. Damon Wilson, a five-star player, is therefore poised for greatness.

Wilson is 225 pounds and 6 feet tall. Georgia's top recruit for the cycle is this man, who is from Venice, Florida. The No. 4 prospect in his own state and the No. 20 overall recruit in his class is the No. 3 edge rusher in the nation. Wilson may not be expected to make a Georgia starting debut right away, but you better believe Smart will find a way to give this five-star early enrollee some playing time this season.

Wilson will perform at his best if given favorable circumstances to prevail in this 2023 defense.
