Top 3 Landing Spots for Chase Young in Free Agency

Josh Allen and Brian Burns are leading an elite free agency class, and Chase Young is adding to the pile of talent. Young has continued to have an impact after being traded from the Washington Commanders to the San Francisco 49ers. In 21 stops, he has totaled 10 sacks and 69 pressures. Young is still a raw edge rusher with a ton of untapped talent who deserves offers from a number of organizations.

#3. Miami Dolphins

With Jaelan Phillips' season-ending injury and Bradley Chubb's ACL tear, the Dolphins need to concentrate on improving at the edge spot. Young should be a target for the Dolphins because of how quickly he can get off the line and pursue quarterbacks. Not to mention, this defense would benefit greatly from having Young, a dual-threat quarterback with a high pass rush success rate, who regularly gets into the backfield. It should eventually assist to relieve pressure on Tua Tagovailoa because he adds talent to the group and is an additional factor on the defensive line.

#2. Chicago Bears

At the trade deadline, the Bears acquired Montez Sweat, and their defense—which was projected to rank among the worst—saw a significant uptick in performance. After obtaining someone of Sweat's caliber, it became clear that the edge position is crucial in Matt Eberflus' scheme. The Bears need a different rusher to complement Sweat if they want to ensure that the defensive line is solid from the outset of the season because Yannick Ngakoue didn't quite have the impact they had hoped for. Therefore, it would be ideal for the Bears to rejoin the Washington duo of Sweat and Young, who have the playing experience to accomplish so.

#1. San Francisco 49ers

Since the 49ers are the best, getting Young back should be their top priority. The 49ers defensive line struggled to put pressure on the quarterback prior to Young. However, Young's acquisition after the trade opened up everyone else on the line and diverted focus from Nick Bosa. It would be best for the 49ers to maintain their new edge-rushing tandem together as his influence has already been felt.
