Kicker Kris Brown, the only player left from the inaugural 2002 season, was cut by coach Gary Kubiak on Friday as NFL teams began paring to the 53-man roster limit for the regular season. Brown was beaten out by Neil Rackers, a free agent signed by Houston in the offseason.

Rosenfels will back up Eli Manning with the Giants. New York needed a No. 2 after losing Jim Sorgi to a season-ending shoulder injury. Rosenfels has made 12 career starts with the Miami Dolphins and Houston Texans, but he did not get into any games for the Vikings last season. "Every quarterback wants to play," Rosenfels, 32, recently told The Associated Press.
