They had already traded Chris Houston and on Saturday they waived nickel back Chevis Jackson. A third-round choice in 2008, Jackson is the highest pick selected by GM Thomas Dimitroff to be released.

Here's a team-by-team look from SN's correspondents at cuts and other decisions by teams in the division: Houston Texans Coach Gary Kubiak called it "the toughest decision I've had to make" when he kept kicker Neil Rackers over Kris Brown, the last original Texan. Brown was 4-of-5 on field-goals attempts in preseason, and his only miss was a 56-yarder.

Matt Leinart might get a second chance, but for the Arizona Cardinals he was a first-round bust. The team released Leinart on Saturday, marking another career setback for the 10th pick of the 2006 draft and the 2004 Heisman Trophy winner. Another team may sign Leinart as a backup quarterback — perhaps the Seattle Seahawks, for whom his former college coach, Pete Carroll, is now the head coach.
